Whistle Stop Café located at 15 East Grand Avenue, Fox Lake, Illinois, so named for its proximity to the Fox Lake Metra Station, features tasty, oversized breakfasts, the best potato pancakes in the Chicago area (do not add sour cream or applesauce to the pancakes as doing so will drown out the delicate flavors) and train memorabilia. Just down the street at 27 East Grant Avenue, Fox Lake, Village Bakery & Café offers delicious takeout pastries. Better yet, buy a coffee cake to power your hikes and rides for a week!
